Terms of Use

Last updated: 26 April 2026

1. Agreement

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and brieflylost (“we”, “us”, “our”) and govern your use of the brieflylost mobile app and related services (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. The Service

brieflylost is a navigation app that uses natural-language input to suggest scenic driving routes and provide turn-by-turn directions, primarily within the United Kingdom. Some features are free; some require a paid subscription.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service (or the higher minimum age in your country). If you are under 18 you must have your parent or guardian’s consent. You are responsible for ensuring you are legally permitted to use the Service.

4. Your account

You need an account to use the Service. You agree to:

You can delete your account at any time from inside the app via Account → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent.

5. Subscriptions and billing

brieflylost offers an optional paid subscription that unlocks higher monthly route limits and priority features.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may suspend or terminate your account if we believe you are violating these Terms.

7. Driving safety — important

brieflylost is provided as an aid to navigation, not a substitute for safe driving. Always follow road signs, traffic laws, and your own judgement. Do not interact with the app while operating a vehicle. Pull over safely if you need to make changes. We are not responsible for any incident, fine, accident, or injury caused by your use of the Service while driving.

Roads close, conditions change, and AI-generated suggestions can be wrong. Use common sense.

8. Your content

You retain ownership of the search queries and any feedback you submit (“Your Content”). By submitting Your Content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, store, and process it as needed to operate and improve the Service. We do not claim ownership of Your Content.

9. Our content

The Service, including the app, brand, and software, is owned by brieflylost or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes, in accordance with these Terms.

10. Third-party services

The Service uses third-party providers (for example, Apple, Google, OpenAI, RevenueCat, Stadia Maps). Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use those features. We are not responsible for third-party services.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of route information, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or produce correct or complete route results.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so under UK law (for example, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud).

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, brieflylost is not liable for:

Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or £50, whichever is greater.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time by deleting your account. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you breach these Terms or if we are required to by law. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (for example, intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability) will survive.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and notify you in the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where local consumer-protection law gives you stronger rights.

16. Apple-specific terms

If you obtained brieflylost through the Apple App Store, the following also applies:
